Getting started
Install and use the Windows app
Install the Windows app, choose the x64 or ARM64 build, sign in once, and keep designing offline for up to a week while your projects stay on your account.
On this page
The Windows app is the same design tool as the web app, installed on your PC. It uses your portal account, the same catalogue and the same projects, and it keeps working when the connection does not.
Install it
- Sign in to the portal and open the Windows app download page.
- Choose the build for your PC: x64 for Intel and AMD processors, or ARM64 for Windows on ARM, including Windows in Parallels on an Apple-silicon Mac.
- Run the installer.
- Open the app and sign in with your portal account.
Note
The installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn that it does not recognise the app the first time you run it. If you downloaded the installer from the portal, choose More info, then Run anyway.
Updates
Install the app once and it keeps itself up to date. There is nothing to download again when a new version of the tool is released.
Working offline
The app works offline for up to 7 days at a time.
- While it is online, the app renews its licence on its own, so the week starts again every time you connect.
- On a site with no signal, nothing changes: open your projects and keep designing.
- After 7 days without a connection, the app asks you to sign in again.
- Your projects live on your account. Changes you make offline sync when you reconnect, so they are there on every machine you sign in from.
Tip
Before a site visit with no signal, open the project once while you are online. Then you know the latest version is on the machine you are taking with you.
What still needs a connection
Some features run on the portal rather than on your PC. Ordering the bill of materials online uses your dealer-portal session, so it needs a connection, and so does creating a 3D tour for a client’s phone. Plan those for when you are back online.
On a Mac
The desktop app is for Windows. On a Mac, use the tool in the browser, or run the ARM64 build in Windows on Parallels.
