Troubleshooting
Where is my project saved?
Saved in this browser is an automatic working copy, not a file or a portal copy. Find where your project is, keep an editable file and get an earlier copy back.
On this page
The status bar says Saved in this browser, but the project is not on your other computer, or you cannot find the file. The tool saves to three different places, and each does a different job.
Check these, in order
- Check where it was saved. Saved in this browser means this browser holds an automatic working copy. It does not mean a project file was downloaded, or that your portal copy was updated.
- Keep an editable file. Use Project → Save project file or Save file as, and keep a named revision somewhere you can find again.
- Find an earlier copy. Project → Projects in this browser and Restore browser backup open the copies this browser keeps. The Portal group of the Project menu opens the copies in your portal account.
Where each copy lives
| Copy | Where | Open it from |
|---|---|---|
| The automatic working copy | This browser, on this computer | Projects in this browser |
| Automatic snapshots, the last 25 | This browser | Restore browser backup |
| A project file | Wherever you saved it | Open project file |
| A portal copy | Your portal account, on any machine | Load project, in the Portal group |
Still cannot find it?
- A different browser or computer. The automatic copy only exists in the browser that made it. Open it there, then save a project file or a portal copy.
- Browser data was cleared. Clearing the browser’s data removes its copies too. A project file or a portal copy is the safeguard.
- The Windows app. The app keeps your projects on your account and syncs them when it is online. See Install and use the Windows app.
- A PDF or a DXF is not the project. Exports are deliverables; they cannot be opened as the editable design.
See Save, back up and reopen projects for every way to save.
