Troubleshooting

I cannot hear the walking preview

Walk and listen plays no sound, or less than you expect. Check the track and the volume, then where you stand, and know what the preview is meant to tell you.

You are inside the room in Walk and listen, but there is no sound, or it is quieter than the plan suggests.

Check these, in order

  1. Check the playback. In Walk and listen, confirm that a track is playing. Then check the volume of your computer and of the browser tab.
  2. Check where you are standing. Move into a room that has speakers, and read the predicted level on the screen. Try another position to compare.

What you should expect

The level follows the calculation as you walk: louder near a speaker, quieter between speakers, and silent only in a true dead zone that no speaker reaches. The preview is for comparing positions. Playback through your computer or headphones is not a calibrated measurement of the installed system.

Still silent?

  • A room with no speakers, or an empty corner. Walk to a listener position, or to the middle of a room with speakers.
  • Your own track. Music in the toolbar takes MP3 files only. Choose Use default music to go back to the built-in track.
  • Headphones. They give the clearest picture of direction and level, and avoid the room you are sitting in colouring the sound.

See Review in 3D and walk and listen for everything the preview plays.
